Coach Laurie began playing community football in Langley, Cloverdale and Surrey, winning provincial championships in Langley and Cloverdale. Laurie is a NCCP Level 2 certified football coach. Coach Laurie has been coaching community football with the Chilliwack Giants for the past several years, including head coaching the 2010 BCCFA Provincial Championship Peewee Giants. Laurie was awarded the Orange Helmet award as B.C. Community coach of the Year for 2010.
Coach Laurie shared a vision for creating a character driven, mentorship oriented football program with the administration of G.W. Graham Middle Secondary over the past few years. The vision includes a program that values the inherent worth of the young men that participate, team building, and integrity, and works tirelessly to develop true leaders on and off the field. Driven by excellence in terms of positive coaching and hard work, the G.W. Graham Grizzlies football program will strive to be known as a leader in terms of quality football education, academic excellence, character development, sportsmanship, and success for players in football and in life.

Coach Smith has been coaching High School Football in Manitoba for the past four years. In that time, he coached defensive backs and for the past two years was the Offensive Coordinator and Receiver coach. His school put together an amazing start for a new program, going 31-8 and topped it off last year with an undefeated season, capturing the AA Provincial Championship. Coach Smith has the privilege of getting to work closely with Texas Tech University, where for the last three years; he has been learning their spread style offence, which he will be bringing to G.W. Graham. From this experience, he is hoping to be able to teach kids what is required to be a successful student athlete and how they can use their football skills to obtain a scholarship that will allow them to get an education for their future.

Coach Douglas’s career highlights include:
Sean’s approach to coaching and sports is that of appreciation for the athlete and the challenges they face. “We must provide the tools and guidance necessary, in order to allow the athlete increase their skills in a progressive fashion and ultimately compete at the highest level possible.”
Sean’s relative playing experience and nearly 20 years coaching football, hockey, baseball and golf will be utilized in fostering other younger coaches and the athletes, and It is with much excitement and anticipation that he looks forward to joining the staff for 2012 season.

Andy, 44, grew up in Agassiz but has made Chilliwack his home for the last 15 years where he lives with his beautiful wife and two sons.
He has been part of the Chilliwack Giants football program for the last six years, with his younger son’s team earning a peewee provincial title in 2010. Prior to coaching football, Andy coached baseball for three years. He also coached JB and Atom in 2011, and is actively involved in motocross where both his sons compete.
Coach Uzick’s goals for the 2012 season are to help develop the young men and women to excel on the football field, the school, and the community. “The key to having a successful program is having a team where all the players are playing for each other not themselves.” Andy believes this will be a great addition to the Graham athletic department for years to come and he is very excited to commence the program.

Lynnet grew up in Chilliwack and graduated from Chilliwack Senior School and pursued her post-secondary education at the University of Victoria, while playing for the women’s basketball team. Her favourite football players at that time were Warren Moon and Brian Kelly of the Edmonton Eskimos. Lynnet more recently played co-ed and women’s touch and flag football, where her team placed seventh at the Canadian National Touch Champions in October, 2011.
Currently the secondary counselor at G.W. Graham, she has also coached basketball for 14 years and is looking forward to being part of the inaugural football season. Although this is her first coaching opportunity in football, she is eager to help out wherever she can.

In 2005, Anthony’s son decided to play football. Although Anthony didn’t have a good understanding of the game, he was eager to learn and gave coaching a try, but after the first year, decided to take a step back and learn more about the game. He has spent his time being actively involved and studying the game ever since.
He focuses on bringing a positive and enthusiastic attitude every time he steps on the field, and enjoys interacting with the players and watching them grow into great athletes. Anthony would like to see this upcoming season be the first of many successful years of football at G.W. Graham.

Coach Mouritzen attended the University of Victoria where he was an All Canadian Academic Student Athlete while playing soccer for the Vikes from 1996-2000. Mouritzen received his degree in Education, majoring in Physical Education and returned to Uvic to complete his Masters in Educational Leadership in 2003.

Mouritzen has coached soccer and basketball at the varsity level for the past ten years and is very excited about becoming part of the Graham Football Family. As an athletic director he believes in providing his coaching staff every possible opportunity to continue to educate themselves in the games they love and better themselves as coaches. He practices this belief by attending as many coaching clinics throughout the year he can. “We ask for the very best from our athletes, how can we demand any less from ourselves?”
Coach Mouritzen strongly believes the main goal within Graham Athletics is to: build the ultimate student athlete that is equipped with the skills to be successful in athletics AND academics, in an effort to better each athlete and prepare them for their next stage in life.

Jason Campbell played minor football for the Chilliwack Steelers in 1993 and for the Abbotsford Airforce until 1997. He was a player coach for the original Chilliwack Huskers as a line backer (when they had purple uniforms). Jason also coached for seven seasons with the Chilliwack Huskers Junior Football organization as a line backer and defensive line coach, and has helped with Chilliwack Giants for three seasons.

Coach Brian began playing football in high school at St. Thomas More Collegiate in Burnaby with a highlight of winning a Provincial championship at the Varsity level. Coach Brian then went on to play Junior football for the Abbotsford Air Force for one season before returning to STMC and coaching with the grade 8 program for three years. This season will be Brian’s eleventh season coaching in community and high school programs. Coach Brian is a NCCP Level 2 certified football coach.

Joey played with the founding Chilliwack Greyhawks who became the Chilliwack Giants in 1992. Joey continued to play community football for The Giants as a defensive back until 1997 at a midget level. He returned to The Giants in 2006 when he decided to get back into the sport of football and help coach his son’s pee-wee team. Joey is looking forward to working with these athletes and help create a team building atmosphere with his fellow coaches.

Todd played two years of football in high school as a defensive back and wide receiver. In 2009 he began helping with his son’s pee wee Giants team which led him to being the defensive backs coach for the last three years. Todd’s son attends G.W. Graham and Todd looks forward to coaching and helping G.W. Graham grow its football program.

Jeff has lived in Chilliwack for 25 years and grew up playing football and other sports in the community. He played for the first year Giants and Huskers and is really looking forward to helping launch the football program at GW Graham. During his playing years he made the decision to become a coach and give back all the dedication, time and life lessons sports had given him. He has been a positional coach and coordinator with the Chilliwack Giants and a positional coach, coordinator and head coach of the Valley Huskers, with a total of ten years coaching experience. Jeff has also helped coach the Abbotsford Airforce, made various guest coaching spots for BC community and high school football, and spent several years coaching youth soccer in Chilliwack, BC.
Jeff got married to his wife during his final year of playing in full gear at halftime versus the Victoria Rebels. He has a son and daughter and currently works for a local company (Westeck Windows) that supports his decision to help coach and guide young kids in the positive direction.

Coach John began his football career in 1987 when he started playing for the Abbotsford Air Force. He played for three years and was on the all star team two years in a row. He has been involved in coaching with the Chilliwack Giants for the past six years where he has enjoyed coaching and team building. One of his greatest experiences in football was coaching with Coach Laurie and winning the 2010 Pee Wee Provincal Championships!

Ken is a member of the G.W. Graham Middle-Secondary School staff where he teaches math and science and is actively involved in the athletics program. Ken is a BCRPA certified personal trainer and has worked in the fitness industry over the past three years. He has trained people of all ages, including young athletes. Ken has coached all levels of basketball in the school and has been responsible for the conditioning of the Junior and Senior Varsity Boys Basketball teams. He is excited for the opportunity to apply his knowledge and work with the coaches and athletes in the new football program.
